Answers
1. Is it typical to have separate programs for Basketball and Cheerleading, or combine them into one program?
Blue Sombrero's recommendation is to create separate programs for the different sports. This will allow you to customize the participant
information questions to match those of each sport (i.e. A basketball player would not be asked what size "Cheer Tee" they want to order).
This will also allow the system to generate separate ULM reports for easier import into ULM.
2. Can I remove the option of Monday, Tuesday, etc from the answer list of practice night exclusion?
No. The question and answer set comes directly from Upward for proper import into your ULM.
3. We used Blue Sombrero last year. Do I need to set up an all new program for this year or can I just make changes
using last year's information?
You will need to create a new Program and new Divisions each year in order to ensure a smooth registration process and to avoid
conflicting data in your ULM reports.
4. How do you pull an evaluation report with the online registrations from the Blue Sombrero system?
Player Evaluation Reports are created in the Upward ULM system. Once you have imported your player data to ULM, you will be able to pull reports directly from their system.

Players are not required to enter an email address during registration, only parents, so only the Parents email addresses will be included in the ULM import report.
7. Can I import my players into the ULM tool more than once? What about creating duplicate records?
It is Blue Sombrero's recommendation to wait until you have received all your player registrations. Ideally, this would occur after the registration close date has passed for all divisions. If you have already uploaded players into the ULM, and need to upload new players, the ULM report that you obtain from the registration site will contain all registration records. In the ULM, there is an overwrite feature that will allow you to overwrite existing entries.
8. Can custom questions (user defined fields- UDFs) from the registration process be automatically included in the ULM Report?
Yes. At the bottom of the Upward Information section, you can create user defined files (UDFs) that can be answered by your participants. The responses to these UDF’s will be imported along with the player’s information into the Upward League Manager. **Note- Only the answers to the UDF questions will be imported into ULM.**
9. I have parents asking me technical registration questions. Does Blue Sombrero have any documentation that I can send to them or point them to?
You can direct all parents to the Parent FAQ's on our support site. There will be a link to the Help Page throughout the registration process for your parents.
10. I am confused about what to put in for the min/max age range. Any advice for how best to handle this at the Division level?
It is a requirement for the minimum and maximum date ranges to be completed in order to create a division. In general, the cut off for grade level birthdays is September 1st.
